NoScroll - Digital Wellbeing Smartband

Doomscrolling is a growing problem, with users scrolling unconsciously late at night, leading to stress and poor sleep. This smartband concept detects scrolling patterns through heart rate monitoring and app activity, then provides gentle LED feedback to create awareness. The design process included user surveys with 43 participants, iterative sketching, and prototyping the band form factor. The companion app UI was designed in Figma with gamified streak tracking and progress visualization.

Assistive Rising Stool

Designed for a user with congenital myopathy who struggles to rise from floor level independently. The process began with interviews and participatory workshops to understand mobility constraints. I developed a portable stool with a multi-step rising mechanism where integrated wheels allow repositioning and handles provide stability at each height. The 1:1 functional prototype was built from wood and foam, then validated through testing sessions with the participant to iterate on handle placement and step heights.

Modular Playground System

Playgrounds often require custom configurations for different spaces and age groups. This modular system uses standardized connection points to enable multiple layout combinations from the same component set. The entire project was developed as a 3D CAD model in SolidWorks, including structural load simulations to verify safety compliance. Photorealistic renders were created to demonstrate various assembly configurations and material finishes.

Mobile Coffee Kiosk

Kennispark needed a mobile coffee service that could serve both rushing commuters and workers wanting a short break. Field research and interviews revealed two distinct user needs: speed and respite. The greenhouse-inspired design creates separate zones for quick service and comfortable seating. The design process included concept sketching, spatial planning, and building a cardboard scale model to test spatial flow, equipment placement, and the balance between openness and shelter.

Manual Coffee Grinder

Specialty coffee requires precise, consistent grinding, but manual grinders often lack the control baristas need. This design uses a 2:1 gear ratio for efficient grinding with adjustable settings for different brew methods. The process included extensive digital sketching in Procreate to explore handle ergonomics and grip positions. A foam model prototype validated hand placement and body proportions, while the wood and stainless steel CMF was developed to create a professional aesthetic suited for coffee bar environments.

Adaptive Toddler Bottle

Toddlers develop drinking skills at different rates, but most bottles force parents to buy new products as abilities change. This bottle adapts with the child, transitioning from sip cup to straw mode as motor control develops. Interactive character figures provide sensory engagement during feeding. The project covered full product development: user research with parents, ideation sketching, detailed CAD modeling in SolidWorks, BOM and cost estimation, and packaging design concepts.

The Hex - Modular BBQ

Student housing lacks storage space, making traditional BBQs impractical. This hexagonal design features foldable side tables and fully detachable legs for compact storage. The hexagonal form naturally creates a social gathering point where everyone can reach the grill. Development progressed from concept sketching through cardboard mockups to a functional metal prototype built in the workshop using welding and metal forming techniques.

Smart Mafia Hat

The social game Mafia relies on a game master to track roles and manage reveals, which can be confusing and error-prone. This smart hat system automates game logic through Arduino-controlled LEDs that indicate player roles, tactile buttons for voting, and a companion app for the moderator. The physical prototype was built with laser-cut wooden housing, hand-soldered PCB electronics, and Arduino programming for the LED and button logic.

Music Sleeve Bracelet

Music is an emotional experience, but headphones isolate it to hearing alone. This wearable extends music into physical sensation, translating audio frequencies into haptic vibration patterns while a small display shows visualizations. The design process included ideation sketching, CMF exploration for material selection, and building a soft prototype with textile construction to test wearability and electronics placement.
